Cometh the law, cometh the man. 3 Hare Court's James Dingemans QC was a personal injury specialist commanding as little as £150 an hour and working on a book entitled Employer's Liability Cases before he was chosen as counsel to the Hutton Inquiry.
To say that he was an unknown before Hutton is putting it lightly, but he garnered considerable praise for his performance after cross-examining witnesses for hours on end in court 73 of the High Court last summer.
He was lauded for his endurance and his measured approach towards the witnesses. He certainly won a lot more fans than the Government's silk, Brick Court's £1,000-an-hour Jonathan Sumption QC, who for once failed to shine.
