Horwich Farrelly

Manchester-based Horwich Farrelly is an insurance and claims-focused firm with offices in Manchester, Liverpool, Chelmsford and Sheffield, covering claims handling, insurance, costs, fraud and claimant work.

The firm is headed by CEO Anthony Hughes, who has taken the firm down the ABS route; the licence became effective in January.

Horwich Farrelly has more than 300 staff, including around 70 qualified lawyers. Under its old structure approximately 16 of these are partners and around half were thought to be members of the equity.

The firm recently acted for Brit Insurance and Co-Operative Insurance in a range of costs and damages cases. It is heavily dependent on the insurance sector, with other clients including Admiral Group, Aviva, Brit Insurance, Esure and HSBC.
