  • A positive move for Hong Kong, although the barristers are resentful to this development, similar to the situation in London. But I think clients are still most likely to choose an experience barristers for important cases.

    Don't you know that many HK qualified solicitors are British and other foreign nationalities? It's very easy for English lawyers to convert to local qualification before 2000... These days it's much harder.

  • More to the point this is a good thing for clients - let's hope they're no longer going to have to foot the bill for QCs flying over from the UK as the HK Bar is seen as inadequate.
