Holman Fenwick Willan (HFW) has appointed Barlow Lyde & Gilbert (BLG) partner Simon Chumas to its shipping practice.
This adds to the eight-strong aviation and aerospace team HFW has already taken from BLG, gaining an office in São Paulo in the process (12 October 2011).
It comes days after Ince & Co announced the appointment of BLG insurance partners Simon Cooper and Kiran Soar (13 October 2011).
BLG plans to reduce its 100-strong partnership by 15 ahead of its planned merger with Clyde & Co (8 August 2011).
Norton Rose has appointed two BLG partners - head of marine, energy and trade Patrick Foss and fellow marine insurance partner Chris Zavos - while financial services regulatory partner Chris Brennan has left to join Lloyds Banking Group.
HFW said Chumas would join the firm on 1 November, the date the Clyde & CO BLG merger is expected to go through.
HFW head of shipping George Eddings said: “He has an excellent reputation in the shipping market and we’re very pleased that he wishes to develop his practice with us at HFW.”
