Hogan & Hartson has made its fifth French partner hire in a year with the appointment of high-profile tax specialist Hervé Bidaud.
Bidaud joins the US firm's Paris office after less than 18 months with tax giant Fidal, having moved from EY Law in October 2004.
He becomes Hogan's first French-based tax partner and brings with him an associate.
Bidaud's appointment follows the 2005 hires of corporate partner Jean-Marc Franceschi from Jones Day, employment experts Dominique Mendy and Thierry Meillat from Winston & Strawn and competition partner Michel Debroux from Clifford Chance.
Paris managing partner William Curtin said: "We can now say that we have the building blocks in place for the future and have got the mass of size that allows us to take on projects of real significance."
He added that the rare hire from one of France's former accountancy-tied firms was in answer to client demand and came after Hogan had worked with Bidaud on a number of deals.
Hogan now has around 25 lawyers in Paris. Curtin said the firm plans to keep growing the office.
