Hogan Lovells has matched last year’s partner promotions round, making up 24 lawyers worldwide including five in London.
The majority of City promotions come from the firm’s corporate practice, reflecting the overall trend worldwide. Litigation was the second most popular practice area to benefit from partner promotions in both London and globally.
In London, corporate finance senior associates Richard Diffenthal and John Connell have been made up as well as corporate of counsel Faye Jarvis.
Diffenthal is one of three promoted lawyers to have trained at the firm, having joined in 2004.
Meanwhile former Slaughter and May associate Connell joined Hogan Lovells just two years ago, with Jarvis starting at the firm in 2007 after various stints at RPC, Robin Simon and Hammonds Suddards Edge (now Squire Patton Boggs).
Both litigation partners to have been made up in London trained at the firm. The duo consists of Matthew Bullen and Rebecca Wales, with commercial litigation specialist Wales joining Hogan Lovells in 2003.
As last year, Hogan Lovells’ Washington DC office overtook London in the promotions round with seven partners. However, more partners were made up across Europe in general compared to the USA, with promotions in Belgium, France, Germany and Italy.
Out of the 24 promotions, eight (33 per cent) were female, a slight decrease on last year’s figure of 37.5 per cent. Last year, 24 partners were also promoted globally with five in London.
Alongside Hogan Lovells’ partner promotions, the firm has also appointed 45 new counsel.
