Hogan Lovells has made its first lateral hires since its merger went live on 1 May.
Partner Suyong Kim will join the firm’s antitrust, competition and economic regulation practice within the next few weeks from Wilmer Hale. She joins along with counsel Karman Gordon and Christopher Hutton.
Kim, who focuses on UK and EU competition law, was recently involved in the OFT’s dairy products and tobacco investigations. She joined Wilmer Hale after leaving Denton Wilde Sapte in 2003 (8 December 2003).
Susan Bright, the London-based co-chair of Hogan Lovells’ antitrust practice, said : “Suyong has an excellent reputation and a proven track record of attracting significant client work and developing a first-rate team. I’m delighted that we’ll be working together and have no doubt that she’ll be a real asset to the new Hogan Lovells team here in London.”
The arrival of Kim, Gordon and Hutton brings the firm’s globalantitrust, competition and economic regulationteam to around 130 lawyers.
Meanwhile, the firm has also elected a new member to its firmwide board. Washington-based Craig Hoover, who co-heads the litigation practice, replaces Gernord Meinel on the board. Meinel left legacy firm Hogan & Hartson before the merger went live.
Hoover, who also heads up the class action team, has been elected for a two-year term.
The board is led by co-chairs John Young and Claudette Christian and works with the firm’s joint chief executives David Harris and Warren Gorrell, along with the international management committee.
Its responsibilities include supervising lateral partner hires, partner compensation and promotions.
