Liverpool’s Hill Dickinson has merged with London shipping boutique Hill Taylor Dickinson, adding a further 20 partners to the North West firm.
The new firm will drop the ‘Taylor’ and be known as Hill Dickinson.
Hill Taylor Dickinson managing partner Malcolm Taylor said: “London is a key area of growth for both firms.”
The merger is Hill Dickinson’s third in as many years after deals with Manchester-based Gorna & Co and property specialists Bullivant Jones.
Those mergers mainly boosted the property department while the latest move will improve the firm’s coverage of the insurance, shipping and commodities sectors.
Hill Taylor Dickinson chairman Maria Pittordis said: “The merger […] will create one of the most substantial commercial and shipping practices in the UK.”
The new firm will have 141 partners and about 900 staff. Hill Dickinson’s 2006 turnover was £52.5m. It has offices in Liverpool, London, Manchester and Chester.
