Hill Dickinson recruits Holman Fenwick Willan shipping partner

Hill Dickinson has recruited shipping partner Justin Draeger from ­Holman Fenwick Willan, where he was a partner. Draeger specialises in bill of lading and charterparty disputes. Hill Dickinson head of marine law Maria Pittordis said: “To have attracted someone with Justin’s skill and client following is a major coup for the firm.”

  • Italian firm Chiomenti Studio Legale has reinforced its London finance practice by hiring partners Lee Parker and Christopher Mullen. Parker was a partner at Dewey & LeBoeuf while Mullen was counsel at Debevoise & Plimpton.

  • Penningtons has strengthened its social housing team by recruiting Colin Hammond from the London Borough of Southwark, where he headed the social housing unit. He joins as an assistant.

  • Bond Pearce associate Neil Franklin has joined TLT’s banking and financial litigation team.
  • Dorchester-based Humphries Kirk has hired assistant Louise Martin for its commercial law team. Prior to this she was an assistant at ­Shoosmiths.

  • Hammonds has boosted its Birmingham planning team by hiring senior associate Simon Best from Warwick District Council, where he was head of legal services.
  • Higgs & Sons commercial property ­assistant Marc Harvey has joined Keelys’ ­Lichfield office with trainee Natalie Peacock.

  • Hempsons has boosted its mental health and public law team in Manchester by hiring ­consultant Guy Otten from the Crown ­Prosecution Service, consultant Clare Doherty from Hill Dickinson and assistant Cheryl ­Rowbotham from Peter Edwards Law.
  • Family assistant Caroline Bilous has moved from Beardsells in Stockport to Manchester-based Glaisyers.
  • Mills & Reeve has hired family law assistant Sam Hall from Gordons. He will be based in the Manchester office.

  • WilmerHale has recruited Mike Sharp to its New York office, where he will be a partner in the securities practice. Sharp joins the firm from ­Citigroup, where he has been since 1997.
  • Deborah Garza has joined Covington & ­Burling in the Washington antitrust practice.
  • She was previously acting assistant attorney ­general in the Department of Justice’s antitrust division. 
  • Stephen Williamson and Jonathan Edgar have joined Katten Muchin Rosenman in Charlotte, leaving the Charlotte office of McGuireWoods.
  • Former secretary of the US Department of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff has joined Covington & Burling as counsel in Washington.

  • Exchange Chambers has continued its ­expansion in Manchester by hiring two criminal barristers as tenants. Nick Johnson joins from Park Court Chambers in Leeds and Sarah Johnston arrives from St Johns Buildings.
