Herbert Smith is kicking off a recruitment drive down under for Australian corporate and finance associates.
The firm has sent corporate partners Greg Mulley and Chris Parsons, along with global relationship partner Richard Fleck and finance partner Alexander Currie, to Australia to raise its profile with local firms, clients and potential new recruits.
Corporate partner Richard Lewis told The Lawyer that Herbert Smith sent regular delegations to Australia to recruit young lawyers for its London office.
"The UK [associate] market is very competitive, particularly for corporate associates," said Lewis. "We've always found that Australian associates work to a very high standard and many of them stay in London for the long term.
"There was a mixture of reasons for the trip, including visits to Australian firms. Referrals go both ways."
