Herbert Smith and Linklaters have played key roles on a transaction between INEOS Enterprises and Gaz de France for the commercial development of a major salt cavern gas storage facility at Stublach in North-West England.
The project is one of the largest consented gas storage facilities by volume that is planned or under construction in the UK.
Linklaters represented INEOS Enterprises, which owns the site for the project, with Eversheds providing advice on real estate issues.
The Linklaters team was led by partner Matthew Keats and the Eversheds team was led by partner Phillip Tunney.
Gaz de France will develop and operate the site, having taken advice from a Herbert Smith team led by energy and natural resources partner Mark Newbery.
