Herbies hires A&O lawyer for Spanish finance push

Herbert Smith has hired an Allen & Overy lawyer to build its Spanish finance capability.
Gonzalo Martin de Nicolas, who was an of counsel at the magic circle firm, joins Herbert Smith as a partner.
This is the eighth partner for Herbert Smith in the Spanish capital since it launched with a trio hired from Linklaters less than a year ago (28 April 2009).
The firm has an additional 18 fee-earners with capability covering corporate, finance, dispute resolution and arbitration and real estate.
Martin de Nicolas specialises in acquisition finance, project finance, corporate lending and restructuring and insolvency work and will work with Madrid-based English finance partner David Wyles to develop the Madrid office’s finance practice.
