Herbert Smith has raided software company Oracle for a new chief operating officer (COO).
The firm has hired Norman Green, Oracle’s chief financial officer for the UK, Ireland and South Africa as COO. Prior to joining Oracle Green was finance director at Arthur Andersen.
Green’s remuneration package is believed to include an annual salary of up to £400,000.
Senior partner David Gold created the role of COO when he overhauled the City firm's management structure earlier this year. As part of the new structure, which came into force in April, Gold also established a six-strong executive committee, which will include three divisional heads and the COO.
As first reported in The Lawyer (7 March), Herbert Smith's former executive partner Iain Rothnie has been acting as a temporary COO.
