Herbert Smith moves to rebuild Asia capital markets team with A&O hire
Herbert Smith has bulked up its capital markets offering in Singapore with the hiring of a consultant from Allen & Overy (A&O).
Philip Lee, who joins Herbert Smith’s Singapore office as a partner, focuses on debt capital markets, advising global financial institutions on public and private products like convertible and exchangeable bonds, medium-term note programmes, fixed income securities, capital issues and private placements.
In August, Herbert Smith boosted its capital markets team in London with ex-Linklaters partner Andrew Roberts (19 August 2011). But in October the firm lost two capital markets partnersincluding its global head of capital markets Jim Wickenden to A&O (4 October 2011).
Commenting on the firm’s latest hire, Herbert Smith senior partner Jonathan Scott said in a statement: “We’re committed to growing both our global DCM practice and our Asia finance team as strategic priorities.
“Following the hire of Andrew Roberts in London earlier this year, Philip’s hire is another step in further enhancing our offering across these areas at a time when Asian economies continue to grow apace.”
