SHIPPING expert Tom Birch Reynardson has left Herbert Smith to join Dibb Lupton Alsop's insurance and shipping group.
Birch Reynardson, who is also taking his assistant Nina Hall with him, said that he was impressed with Dibbs' "existing solid and well established insurance and shipping practice".
Despite the loss, Herbert Smith has maintained that its shipping practice will continue to grow.
Welcoming the move, Kevin McLoughlin, head of insurance at Dibbs, said: "Tom is a well respected shipping lawyer who will add greatly to our own shipping team. He has the ability to exploit the genuine possibilities the Far East is now offering."
Alistair Whelan, partnership secretary at Herbert Smith, said the move was undertaken in a spirit of "mutual goodwill" between all the parties.
Herbert Smith's head of litigation, Lawrence Collins, said that the shipping practice was continuing to grow, particularly in Asia where the firm has attracted "significant" new business."
