Herbert Smith is planning to vote next year on whether to take its relationships with four foreign firms through to mergers.
The firm currently enjoys exclusive relationships with the three European firms it is talking to - Cuatrecasas in Spain, Stibbe in the Netherlands and Pavia e Ansaldo in Italy - in the same way as with German firm Gleiss Lutz Hootz Hirsch. But the firm is likely to vote on whether to progress the firm's current strategy to one of pursuing mergers in the middle of next year, said a Herbert Smith source. Senior partner Richard Bond refused to comment on any future partnership votes.
