Inhouse accountant gets partnershipr to help meet client demands post-Enron

Herbert Smith has promoted an inhouse accountant to partnership status in a move thought to be unique among City law firms.
Kathryn Cearns has been given partnership status as a recognition of the growing role law firms will have advising clients on audit issues post-Enron.
“The accounting and reporting framework is critical to the effective operation of the markets and is an area where considerable changes are taking place,” said Herbert Smith practice partner Richard Fleck.
