Hengeler in new US push

Davis Polk & Wardwell German best friend Hengeler Mueller has visited other top US firms in a bid to maximise its European M&A referrals

The marketing trip sent out a reminder to the US market that the best friends relationship is not exclusive outside capital markets work.
Hengeler partner and head of the US steering committee Max Schiessl played down the trip, saying: “I was in the US two months ago and visited Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, Cravath Swaine & Moore and Davis Polk, and I always do.” He has also paid courtesy visits to Wachtell Lipton Rosen & Katz and Milbank Tweed Hadley &McCloy in the past.
Last year the two firms released a common set of documentation together with Slaughter and May, which was used in part to market the triumvirate to US private equity houses.
