As revealed on www.thelawyer.com (12 January), Heller hired a three-partner corporate technology team from the City arm of WilmerHale.
The firm plans to have three prongs to its London practice – corporate technology, competition and real estate capital markets.
Heller chairman Matt Larrabee told The Lawyer: “We plan to have 25 lawyers by the end of the year. Beyond that, our priority is to get it up and running.
“We don’t have any pre-determined numbers like some people who say we will have X number of people in London. We went to New York and said that needs to be our biggest office. And it will be soon. That’s not our theory in London. We will see how it develops.”
Lahnborg, who is joining the firm as a shareholder. (Heller has shareholders rather than partners.) Lahnborg joins European co-chair Ted Henneberry, who was a member of the Irish Competition Authority before joining Heller.
