A Scottish health board has been fined £32,000 after being found guilty of failing to ensure the safety of a worker who was physically attacked by a patient with mental health issues.
The experienced community psychiatric nurse was visiting a 58-year-old female patient who had a 30-year history of mental health issues at the time the attack occurred.
The nurse was forced to the floor and threatened and her hair was pulled so hard that clumps were ripped out. The attack has had a lasting effect on the victim, who is anxious about making home visits and has suffered flashbacks of the attack ever since…
