There appeared to be some confusion over at Kirkland & Ellis recently, at least in its spin department.
All was fine when one of Tulkinghorn’s scribes received an announcement trumpeting the news that “James HM Sprayregen, head of Kirkland & Ellis’s worldwide restructuring group, has accepted a position as a managing director in the investment banking division of Goldman Sachs, effective early July 2006”.
All fine, except when the hack called for more information, the firm’s PR responded with the following: “We don’t have elected practice group heads at Kirkland.”
You either do or you don’t. Make your mind up.
