Eversheds, Gateley Wareing and Lee Crowder have been appointed to Halifax Bank of Scotland’s (HBOS) business banking panel for the West Midlands region after successfully competing in a beauty parade.
The panel, which will act on transactions where HBOS is lending up to £10m to corporate or business clients, is understood to be the first of its kind in the region. Before HBOS established the system, it instructed a number of firms to advise on smaller-end deals on an ad hoc basis. The panel went live in the summer.
The line-up is being run out of HBOS’s Chester office, although firms will report to business development managers based in local branches on a day-to-day basis.
Recently, HBOS appointed Watford-based firm Matthew Arnold & Baldwin as a preferred firm for transactions of up to £25m after a similar tender process.
Last year, the Halifax arm of HBOS finalised a separate and specialised list of firms for repossession litigation comprising DLA, Shoosmiths, Walker Morris and Wragge & Co.
