HarperCollins media expert takes over as Dow Jones GC

Dow Jones has snared HarperCollins associate general counsel Mark Jackson to take up the role of executive vice-president and general counsel.

Jackson, who replaces outgoing general counsel Joseph Stern, who joined the organisation from Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson in 2004, will report to Dow Jones chief Les Hinton.

“Jackson has made outstanding contributions to HarperCollins,” said Hinton. “His considerable experience with all facets of the media industry, combined with his superlative legal acumen, will be valuable assets to Dow Jones.”

Jackson joined News Corporation’s HarperCollins in January 2003 from Squadron Ellenoff Plesent & Sheinfeld, where he was a partner in the media practice.
