Haroon Laher completed two law degrees at the University of the Witwatersrand. Since his admission, he has practised as an insolvency and litigation attorney, specialising in insolvency-related and commercial, real-estate and banking litigation.
Over the years, Haroon has represented major banks, financial institutions and corporate entities in aspects of insolvency law and litigation. He was involved in the Nationwide liquidation and attempts, both prior to and after its liquidation, to restructure and rescue its business operations.
He has served as chairperson of the Income Tax Board. He also serves as a member of the Disciplinary Committee of the Law Society of the Northern Provinces. He is also a member of the Association of Insolvency Practitioners of South Africa and INSOL.
Haroon lectures extensively on insolvency-related topics to students at the University of the Witwatersrand and to candidate attorneys prior to their admission.
He is a non-executive director and member of the audit committee of the Fountainhead Property Management Trust, a listed company managing Fountainhead Property Trust, a fund regulated by the Collective Investments Scheme Control Act of 2002.
