Harbottle family chief ups sticks to niche firm

Harbottle & Lewis family head Tom Amlot has left the firm to join niche family boutique Alexiou Fisher Philipps (AFP) as its sixth partner.

Amlot, who joined Harbottle on qualifying in 1999, said he was attracted to AFP after becoming intrigued by the idea of niche practices.

“There was more support, more people and more departments where I was, but AFP has a nice feel and I feel I’m in the right place,” said Amlot.

Amlot, whose practice focuses on privacy as well as divorce work, has joined AFP along with Harbottle associate Katie Longmate.

AFP, which is based in London’s West End, was founded in July 2001 by Gordon Dadds partners Douglas Alexiou, Jeremy Fisher and Susan Phillips.

Fisher said of Amlot: “He will help us build on our reputation as a stable of high-calibre family lawyers operating from an exclusively family law firm.”
