Hammond Suddards Edge has scooped a new client thanks to the firm's new partner Robert Weekes.
Accountancy firm Levy Gee was a client of Weekes while he was at Wildes. Following his defection to Hammonds with four other former Wildes partners (The Lawyer, 25 June) Weekes was asked to pitch for the work and went on to win the instruction. Hammonds has advised on the incorporation of Levy Gee as part of Numerica Group and its subsequent AIM flotation. The initial public offering - only the second time an accountancy practice has floated - is expected to raise £30m. Corporate finance partner Robert Hamill led the Hammonds team. He said: "It came through one of the Wildes partners - Robert Weekes - who has worked with Levy Gee for ages. It really is an accolade to the Wildes team that they've already introduced a substantial client. "It's a job that Wildes wouldn't have been able to do, so it's an example of the success of the merger." He added that he hoped to be able to return the favour.
