Hammonds' Midlands gap filled by City partner

Hammond Suddards Edge's Birmingham office has drafted in a partner from London to fill the hole left by the defection of the regional head of construction to Midlands firm Gateley Wareing

Rupert Cowen joined Hammonds' London office from the Birmingham office of Merricks two years ago. National head of construction David Jones put a brave face on the loss, saying that Cowen fits in well with Hammonds' strategy due to his international experience.
Departee Lloyd Jones will join Gateley Wareing as a partner under head of construction Peter Davies.
Since the opening of the Hong Kong office last December, Hammonds has aimed to attract more international construction work to Birmingham. Jones said: “Many major clients locally are genuinely undertaking projects across the world.”
A bad week also saw Hammonds lose private equity rainmaker David Bayliss to Norton Rose. There are no immediate plans to replace Bayliss.
