Hammonds hire signals private equity push

Hammonds has kick-started a strategic push in its private equity group to capture a bigger slice of the high-value deals market with the hire of Travers Smith senior associate Mark Robson.

Robson, who joins Hammonds as a partner, has been drafted in for his expertise in large private equity deals, ranging from mid-market management buyouts through to £1bn demergers.

Until now the firm focused mainly on equity deals valued between £5m and £150m, but Robson’s hire is set to change this.

Jonathan Jones, the head of Hammonds’ private equity group, said Robson’s hire is part of the firm’s focus on growing the practice and a response to the ever-increasing client demand.

Jones said: “The private equity team is now focusing its efforts on capturing a bigger slice of deals worth up to £250m.”
