Hammonds has bolstered its German offering with the hire of a new corporate partner in Berlin.
Jost Arnsperger joins the firm from his role as general counsel of German train manufacturer Bombardier Transportation. He is the third partner Hammonds has hired since instituting a global lock-in of equity partners in May 2005.
Arnsperger becomes Hammonds' second dedicated Berlin-based corporate partner, alongside practice head Kai Mertens. Fellow partner Klaus Grossmann is based in Munich.
Mertens said: "We appreciate Jost as a lawyer and we've worked closely with him for quite a while."
The firm has acted for Bombardier in the past and hopes to maintain its links with the company.
Mertens said Hammonds' German offices were busy, acting on a number of transactions for clients such as Investment Bank Berlin. He added that the firm was heading for increased German turnover and profit for the current financial year.
Arnsperger is succeeded at Bombardier as general counsel by Sylvie Bourdon, an internal promotion.
Hammonds has two German offices, with six partners in Berlin and three in Munich.
