Halliwells has launched a construction practice in Sheffield with the hire of DLA partner David Fearon.
Fearon was originally a quantity surveyor, project manager and cost control manager before he requalified as a solicitor-advocate. He was at DLA for six years.
His hire marks the firm’s first incursion into the Yorkshire construction market, building on its existing two-partner dedicated construction department, which operates from Manchester. The firm also has a large commercial property department.
Fearon said a number of clients have followed him. Although the clients are not restricted to South Yorkshire, he said Sheffield is a “sleeping giant” and that expansion was on the cards.
Fearon said: “I knew Halliwells by reputation and they’re a good firm. There’s a clear desire to develop the business.”
