Halliwells has bagged its third partner from DLA Piper Rudnick Gray Cary's Liverpool office as corporate partner Jonathan Brown joins the North West firm with a team of associates.
Brown's appointment follows the hires of corporate partner Paul Jefferson and litigation partner Colin Gibbons from DLA Piper earlier this year. DLA Piper litigation assistant Fiona Parry was also hired as a Halliwells partner.
Brown claimed: "There's a feeling in Liverpool that Halliwells is fast becoming the new corporate heavyweight."
The latest hire will provide a significant lift for Halliwells' growing Liverpool office, which is still only eight months' old. The firm moved into the city in January 2005 when it merged with Liverpool stalwart Cuff Roberts.
Brown will join Halliwells along with two associates. He spent 12 years at DLA Piper, working for clients such as Liverpool Football Club. He said Halliwells had made a "massive impact" on the Liverpool market.
Managing partner Ian Austin said the profile and quality of the work Halliwells is doing in Liverpool has improved gradually and that Brown's hire would help maintain that growth.
"For us it's a really quality appointment, with a guy who's got a track record of acting for quality clients," said Austin.
