Manchester firm Halliwell Landau has strengthened its banking service by taking on Ray McDaid from Nabarro Nathanson.
McDaid, who joins as a partner, was a founder member of Nabarro's banking department.
"I regard it as a major coup for the firm that he has decided to join us," says senior partner Clive Garston.
McDaid previously worked as assistant vice president in the international capital markets group at the London office of the First National Bank of Chicago and prior to that he was with Herbert Smith.
"I wanted to go back to the North-west and I wanted to join a firm which was going places and which was of a size where it was possible to get involved at a more senior level," he says.
McDaid joins fellow partner John Whatnall and about four fee-earners in Halliwell Landau's banking section which comes under the umbrella of the corporate department.
The firm now has 23 partners and the number of fee-earners has grown by 25 per cent during the last year.
The Manchester office of Addleshaws Sons & Latham has lost company and corporate finance solicitor William Blumenthal, who joins Chester and Wrexham law firm Aaron & Partners as a partner. He is experienced in venture capital and merger and acquisitions work.
