Halliwell Landau has boosted its traditionally tight equity partnership by four, bringing the number of equity partners to 32 of a total of 57.
`The most recent promotions are Mike Edge, Charles Gaskie, Suzanne Liversidge and Victor Rae-Reeves.`Two of the new equity partners are already heads of department. Mike Edge leads the firm's commercial property department, and Suzanne Liversidge, who is only 32, heads the firm's Sheffield office. Edge is a finance expert and Liversidge specialises in corporate manslaughter cases and public authority claims.`Charles Glaiskie is in corporate finance and Victor Rae-Reeves specialises in litigation, arbitration and mediation.`Halliwells has just recorded a £26.35m annual turnover, a 20 per cent increase on last year.`Alec Craig, a senior partner at Halliwells, stated: "It has been a tremendous 12 months [with]…a significant increase in turnover. Our new equity partners have talent, commitment and the ability to move the business on."`Halliwells has experienced high partner turnover in the past year.`In December 2000, Paul Conroy left for Addleshaw Booth & Co in Manchester, just 18 months after being made up to partner. The firm also lost Andrew Livesey, the head of insolvency, in the same month. October 2000 had seen the loss of partners Patrick Rawnsley and Tim Jackson-Smith (The Lawyer, 11 December 2000).`However, the firm has increased its number of partners by four over the year. David Rogers, formerly of Garretts, is the most recent recruit.
