  • Obvious glaring omission

William Blackstone doesn't get a look in and Imran Khan does? Really? Incredible!

  • Helena Kennedy

Strange that Helena Kennedy QC doesn't get a mention in your list...

  • Mr Justice Collins

He should have been referred to as Lord Justice Lawrence Collins as he is now in the Court of Appeal, the first solicitor to be so apppointed

  • The Lawyer Hall of Fame

I would nominate to the Lawyer's Hall of Fame Elish Angiolini QC - Scotland's Lord Advocate and former Solicitor General for the intelligent and steady qualities of her legal leadership through successive Scottish administrations and Governments.

  • George Carman

The late George Carman, Gorgeous George, is still probably the only lawyer (apart from Cherie B) that the general public has ever heard of.

  • Lord Denning

I find it rather embarrassing that we as a nation and as a profession would want to celebrate such a character has Lord Denning. Regardless of any positives that he may have bestowed upon the legal profession, his racism and bigotry can not be swept underneath the carpet of history. It would be hard to imagine the construction industry celebrating Hitler’s role in the creation of the Autobahn, and as good as these roads are, the industry is right no to.

  • Sir Owen Dixon

Given that you are going beyond the UK (it seems), it would be remiss to leave out Sir Owen Dixon, perhaps THE greatest jurist of the 20th C.

  • Dame Rosalyn Higgins

What about Dame Rosalyn Higgins? The first female President of the International Court of Justice? The most Senior Judge in the World! Surely that is something the British legal system should be proud of and I can't think of a person more appropriate for the title "great and good".

  • Archibald Cox

A US lawyer, but if you don't know what he did, and why he qualifies as one of the C20 greats, then I recommend finding out.

  • Lord Diplock

Lord Diplock - His contribution to the development of judicial review and administrative law surely earns him a place in this list.

Lord Reid is another notable omission.

  • Constance Briscoe

Now this is a woman of achievement - she overcame a childhood marred by abuse both physical and verbal. Put herself through university, distingused herself by working as a trainee in the chambers of Michael Mansfied QC and was later to the bar. A great inspiration!
