Hackney legal teams merged into two sections

Gifty Edila has divided the various teams into two large pools to focus on commercial and litigation respectively.

Previously there were five smaller teams that focused on planning, property and regeneration, procurement and contracts, litigation and housing. “With smaller teams you don’t get economies of scale in terms of people developing skills across a broad range of areas of work,” said Edila. “For smaller teams the support is limited if you’ve got a few people out.”

Edila has promoted Stephen Rix to head the new litigation group. She is still in the process of appointing the head of the commerical group and team leaders for both groups.
