Haarmann Hemmelrath names new UK partners

Corporate partner Philip Newhouse joins from Taylor Joynson Garrett where he was the Bucharest office head until returning to London in summer 1998. He knows the German firm through its former affiliation with Taylor Joynson Garrett .

Newhouse will work alongside Jay Birch, previously a partner at Hammond Suddards and legally qualified accountant Peter Vaines who joins from Brebner Allen Trapp.

Existing German partners Claus Kohler and Norbert Jakobs will join the three UK recruits.

Wilhelm Haarmann, one of the firm's six founding partners, says the team will be as attractive to UK firms as it will German and international firms with UK subsidiaries.

He says the firm plans to recruit aggressively for the new office - due to open in the Spring - aiming to bring in around 50 people within the next 18 months.
