Silicon Valley-based Gunderson Dettmer Stough Villeneuve Franklin & Hachigian is launching a San Diego office with two former Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati partners.
Gari Cheever and Jeffrey Higgins are opening the Californian office with former Wilson Sonsini senior associate Ilan Lovinsky, who also joins as a partner.
Wilson Sonsini opened its own San Diego office at the end of 2004. The defection leaves the firm with 11 partners in the city, six of whom divide their time with other offices.
The move reunites partners from the days of the defunct Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison. In 1995 Robert Gunderson led the team of partners that broke from Brobeck, where both Cheever and Higgins were working at the time, to found Gunderson. Higgins also practised at Gunderson Dettmer between 1997 and 2000.
