London firm Grundberg Mocatta Rakison has merged with niche US firm White and Jones to launch a Russia and Eurasia practice.
Joining Grundberg are managing partner Walter White and a team of six lawyers, including Kazakhstan-based Valery Zhakenov, who will set up the firm's Almaty office. Grundberg is looking to position itself as an AIM adviser to Russian and Eurasian companies wanting a London listing. Senior partner Anders Grundberg said: "The development of the region itself is very exciting; it's a definite growth area."
Grundberg focuses on corporate transactions, deriving 80 per cent of its £5m revenue from abroad.
The firm's nine partners and 40 fee-earners speak a total of 24 different languages between them. "It's fairly unique given the size of the firm," said Grundberg.
