Greenberg eyes Austin, Seattle launches

Miami-based law firm Greenberg Traurig plans to consolidate on its recent rapid growth by expanding its network into both Austin and Seattle.

Following the launch of the firm's office in Sacramento, California in October, chief executive Cesar Alvarez said the firm was now looking to open in Austin, Texas in order to achieve its target of having presences in the capitals of the four most populous states in the US.

The firm already has offices in Tallahassee in Florida and Albany in New York State.

Alvarez said the firm was also examining launching in Seattle, Washington State, as the North West was the only other region in the US where it does not have a presence.

Greenberg, which ranked fifteenth in The AmLaw 100 with a gross revenue of $712m (£409.6m) for 2004-05, has 25 offices in the US and seven international bases, some of which are part of alliances.

The firm launched in Tokyo in April through a branded office linked with local alliance partner Hayabusa Kokusai Law Offices.
