Government set to launch sweeping reforms of TCC

The Technology and Construction Court (TCC) will next week launch a new guide to the court following a sweeping review designed to improve its reputation.

TCC head Mr Justice Jackson will launch the guide on Monday (3 October), nearly four months after the Lord Chancellor and Lord Chief Justice announced major changes to the way the court is run.

That announcement came following years of criticism of the TCC, particularly after The Lawyer (20 January 2003) revealed Judge Seymour’s controversial verdict in the Co-op Group v ICL case. Seymour was later criticised by the Court of Appeal, and was ousted from the TCC in June 2005.

As part of the changes, a panel of five High Court judges have been appointed to the TCC in addition to the existing group of 41 circuit judges who hear cases in the court.
