But despite having a lot on their plates, they still had the wherewithal to clock a hoaxer trying to fly under the radar on the back of their good name.
Hours after bosses John Pickering and Mark Higgins were waxing lyrical about “growth plans’ following the buyout of debt collection company PDP, a stern warning was issued on the firm’s website about a conman.
Fraudulent emails are being sent from a slippery customer called Paul Redmond, who is trying to cream personal details and cash from people by using the Irwin Mitchell brand.
The firm and the SRA explained that the letters allege the recipient has been involved in distributing fake clothes. There is also a scam doing the rounds with correspondence claiming to be from subsidiary Queen Street Trustees offering large investments or suggesting that the recipient was the beneficiary of an unclaimed estate.
So be advised, if you received a letter from Irwin Mitchell asking for money - it may all be part of a cruel hoax. Unless you’re a client, of course.
