That's right folks, Canary Wharf, Clifford Chance's new home and that paean to corporate riches, is, it seems, going the way of Atlantis. Apparently there's a distinct lack of terra firma beneath the old brownfield site, now a glittering metropolis full of bankers and lawyers. According to a geologist friend of Tulkinghorn, the area has sunk a couple of inches over the past few years.
And it won't just be poor old Clifford Chance lawyers up to their eyeballs in sludge: Skadden and Allen & Overy could soon find themselves paddling to work in a gondola (although that might not be such a bad thing - cab drivers still can't find their way around the place for love nor money).
