Scottish firm Burness has won a choice mandate to advise the preferred bidder for the development of the athletes’ village for the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
The firm, led by partner Stephen Philips, is advising the City Legacy Consortium, which was named preferred bidder by Glasgow City Council last month.
The firm provided legal support throughout the process and will continue as a member of the consortium, which is made up of developer CCG, housebuilder Mactaggart & Mickel and construction firm The Malcolm Group, until completion in 2014.
Phillips said: “We’ve been instrumental in setting the structure for many high-profile public sector offshoots in recent years, as well as the NPD [non-profit distributing] model, which is regarded by the Scottish government as the template for future PPP infrastructure projects in preference to PFI.”
The village will be converted into housing once the Games are over.
