French giant Gide Loyrette Nouel is beefing up its US practice dramatically by hiring two partners for its New York office.
Projects and asset finance specialist Marianne Rosenberg joins from Thelen Reid & Priest, prior to which she was managing partner of Linklaters‘ New York office. Tax specialist Rob MacDonald joins the French firm from Hunton & Williams.
The hires, first revealed on www.thelaywer.com (27 April), are a significant move for Gide, which has been present in New York for two decades, but which currently has just one French partner in the office, David Malamed.
Senior partner Gérard Tavernier said the hires continue Gide’s targeted development in finance, but added that they will also improve connections between the firm’s New York office with both France and the UK.
Rosenberg is bilingual in French and English and has a French law degree in addition to being US-qualified. She focuses on asset finance, cross-border leasing and project finance. MacDonald’s practice covers a wide range of debt finance work.
Tavernier said: “New York is the third leg in our plan to provide clients and referral firms with the kind of access that befits a premier international independent law firm.
“Marianne and Rob fit exactly with the profile we’re looking for. It’s a unique opportunity.”
