Gibson Dunn & Crutcher has started work on its third European property take-private for Lehman Brothers Real Estate Partners. All three deals have been valued at almost £1bn. Partner Wayne McArdle is advising the bank on a £1.1bn joint public takeover of Dutch property fund Uni-Invest with real estate developer Merwede. McArdle handled Lehman Brothers' efforts to gain clearance from the European Commission to take Dutch property fund Haslemere private, valued at more than £900m. He also advised Lehman Brothers on its £920m take-private of property portfolio Burford Holdings. McArdle was at Paul Hastings when the Burford deal was going through. He left for Gibson Dunn in the middle of the deal, taking the work with him. Clifford Chance Netherlands partner Jan ter Haar advised Uni-Invest on the deal. Merwede Group was advised by Dutch firm Hocker Rueb & Doeleman.
