Linklaters' Italian ally Gianni Origoni Grippo & Partners plans to open further offices in Italy and strengthen practice areas to become a full-service firm.
Gianni currently has domestic offices in Rome, Milan and Padua. A spokesperson said: "We are thinking about opening offices around Italy, perhaps a couple of offices." The firm is considering the wealthy north-eastern Veneto region and the south. The news comes as Gianni expands its banking and finance team with a lateral hire from Rome firm Santilli e Associati. Umberto Mauro was previously Santilli's banking and finance head. He has worked on the authorisation procedures of savings management companies and the creation of the first Italian umbrella fund. Gianni also plans to raise its profile in financial markets work and expand its antitrust team.
