Gianni rocked by four-partner walk-out

Husnara Begum

Italian independent Gianni Origoni Grippo & Partners has suffered the mass resignation of four partners and a team of assoociates.

Rome-based partners Andrea Mazziotti di Celso, Fabio Labruna and Antonio Segni and Milan partner Aldo Palumbo quit last night (31 January) following clashes with management over strategy.

The equity partners and a team of 20 associates are leaving Gianni Origoni to launch their own firm.

Mazziotti di Celso and Labruna both specialise in corporate transactions while Segni’s practice focuses on banking and capital markets work. Palumbo is an expert in employment law.

The departures will mean that partner Bruno Bartocci will move into the newly created role of co-ordinator of Gianni Origoni’s 26-strong capital markets group.

A statement from Gianni Origoni confirming the departures said: “The appointment of this new role to steer the capital markets department grows from a reorganisation of the department.

"[This is] in response to the consensual and friendly decision between the firm and the partners Antonio Segni, Andrea Mazziotti, Fabio Labruna and Aldo Palumbo, together with twenty associates, to end their professional collaboration, due to the cause of diversity in strategic views."
