Germany's Heussen takes over Stuttgart firm Wahlert

German firm Heussen is strengthening its Stuttgart office with the addition of local firm Wahlert.

On 1 March Wahlert’s 16 lawyers will all move to Heussen, which has an existing, smaller presence in Stuttgart, bringing the number of lawyers in the office to 23. The office was set up in January last year.

The deal sees Wahlert’s partners Horst Teller, Sven Hoffmann and Pascal Schulz join Heussen’s partnership.

Wahlert associates Sabine Benthin, Michael Frühmorgen and Marcel Mercadal are set to become salaried partners at Heussen in due course.

Heussen managing partner Christoph Hamm said the merger was part of the firm’s strategy to establish itself in all important German cities.

In total, Heussen will have 90 lawyers nationwide following the completion of the merger. The firm also has offices in Berlin, Frankfurt and Munich and operates associated offices in the Netherlands and Italy.
