German firm Görg has raided two of its rival firms for a team of insolvency lawyers to launch in Hamburg and Rostock.
Görg will launch in Hamburg in the new year with seven partners and 15 lawyers. The Hamburg team includes a group of lawyers joining from national insolvency boutique Brinkmann & Partner.
Lawyers Thorsten Bieg, Wolfram Lohse, Marc Odebrecht, Hans-Jürgen Rieckhof, Oliver Dankert, Hartwig Albers and Gerhard Brinkmann will all start work at Görg next year. Brinkmann chartered accountants Hans-Jürgen Wilke and Peter Stoffersen are also moving to Görg and will set up an associated accounting firm specialising in tax advice.
The hires mean that Görg’s insolvency arm will be offering services in Hamburg, Schwerin, Berlin and Rostock in addition to existing insolvency centres in Cologne, Essen, Düsseldorf and Wuppertal.
Further insolvency sites will be added by the hires of three additional Hamburg-based lawyers. Partner Gerrit Hölzle will be joining Görg from his own firm, Beck & Hölzle, along with associatesRainer Beck and Marcus Nierkens. The trio will work primarily from Hamburg, but will also act as insolvency administrators in cities including Bremen.
Görg partner Michael Dolfen said the hires would increase the firm’s ability to manage large, complex insolvency proceedings.
