Lovells has boosted its dispute resolution team in Germany with the hire of a team from German independent Aderhold von Dalwigk Knüppel.
Partner Jürgen Witte, counsel Kim Mehrbrey and at least one associate will join Lovells’ Düsseldorf office, boosting the practice to more than 40 lawyers in Germany.
Witte said he joined Lovells for a number of reasons: “Firstly the international environment will enhance my client base, and Lovells has a strong commitment to litigation and arbitration.”
“Also I am deeply convinced that the lockstep system is better than what I had to face at my previous firm. There the system was eat what you kill, which devastates team spirit,” he added.
Witte’s clients include construction company Xella and Deutsche Post.
He joined Aderhold von Dalwigk Knueppel in 2000 as a partner from Sozietät Heimann & Partner, where he spent six years.
Before that, Witte was a judge for four years in Lower Saxony. He specializes in litigation and arbitration for banking and corporate clients.
Witte is Lovell’s fourth top-level hire within six weeks. In May alone, the firm hired Milan-based Paolo Tannoni from Ernst & Young and Merck Sharp & Dohme legal director Marc Dalby in London.
